City of Gladstone Storm Water Management Program

Post-Construction Storm Water Management

Public education and outreach is by far the most important aspect of the Storm Water Management Program. It is important to educate citizens on the importance of protecting our streams, rivers, and lakes from pollutants. In a perfect world, rain or snowmelt would be directed to pervious areas to naturally soak into the soil. As it stands today, much of this water travels across impervious surfaces such as roadways collecting trash and debris as it is carried to the nearest stream. Some common pollutants include styrofoam/paper cups, food wrappers, cigarette butts, fertilizers, pesticides, and motor oil.

The City will continue to update this website, distribute brochures, and seek public input to improve the program. For questions or comments relating to the program, please contact the Public Works Department at (816) 436-5442 or by e-mail at stormwater@gladstone.mo.us.
