Applying For a Residential Building Permit
(for a new house only)

Step 1

Come to the Community Development office with 1 full size set of plans and 1 survey. You will be asked to complete an application, pay a $30.00 Plan Review Fee and to draw any proposed decks onto the survey. The application, plans & survey will be reviewed by a member of our staff. This process usually takes 2-4 days.

Step 2

You pay for your permit at the time it is issued. After the permit is issued, you may begin working. Some new residential permits require the escrow of funds for public improvements; for more information about escrow contact the Community Development office at 436-2200.

Step 3

Call the Community Development office at 436-2200 to schedule your inspections. We try to respond to your request within 2 hours; requests received after 3:00 pm will be performed the next business day. When the construction is entirely complete, you will have a Final Inspection, and a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
