Are you looking for a new twist on the same old Easter egg hunt? If so, we have exactly what you are looking for! Attend our 5th Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, April 15th to experience the newest craze in egg hunting. Children will be divided into age groups of 3 & under, 4-5 years and 6-7 years. Each egg hunter will need to bring his or her own flashlight and basket. The egg hunt will be held at the Happy Rock Park Softball Complex and will start with the youngest age groups, but while you wait there will be games to play.      If someone in your home loves trucks, then this event is tailor made for them. This event gives kids the opportunity to get up close and personal with large trucks, police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, race cars and more. The event will be held at Happy Rock Park on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. The event is limited to the first 150 registered and includes a goodie bag.      Bring a dog along for this one-mile walking event, which will also include a variety of demonstrations. This walk is a benefit for the animals who visit the Gladstone Animal Shelter, helping to provide a better environment. All entrants will receive a t-shirt and the dogs will receive their own "doggie bag". The event will be held at Happy Rock Park on Saturday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m..      Join us by celebrating National Trails Day with a self-guided tour through the Maple Woods Preserve. Did you know that Maple Woods Preserve is the largest stand of Sugar Maples west of the Mississippi river? Maple Woods Preserve trail maps are available at Gladstone City Hall, 7010 N. Holmes, Gladstone, MO 64118, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come and enjoy the many flora and fauna located at the Maple Woods Preserve.      This 6-week program is for boys and girls ages 3 - 5 years old. It introduces the game of baseball and its skills without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. The program will be offered in four different sessions and is limited to twenty-one children per session. The fee is $35 and includes a t-shirt and participation medal.      This 6-week program is for boys and girls ages 4 - 6 years old. It introduces the game of flag football and prepares kids to throw, catch and run without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.      This 9-week program is designed to develop an understanding of rules, teamwork, fundamentals and sportsmandhip for boys and girs 5 years - 2nd grade based on the 2011 - 2012 school year. The games focus on learning, sportsmanship and fun. All practices will be held on Tuesday nights and games on Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Happy Rock Park, 76th & N. Antioch Rd on the east side by the small shelter, beginning the week of May 24th. This 9-week program includes a t-shirt and a ball cap.      New for this year, this 10-week program is designed to develop teamwork, fundamentals and sportsmandhip for boys and girs in the 3rd and 4th grade based on the 2011 - 2012 school year. It is a rotational leaue, meaning kis will play every position during games. Modified Pitch is a form of slow pitch softball. All practices will be held on Tuesday nights and games on Friday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Happy Rock Park, 76th & N. Antioch Rd on the east side by the small shelter, beginning the week of May 24th. This 10-week program includes a t-shirt and a ball cap.      Make your own rain barrel and learn about the benefits of rain gardens at this one-day workshop. No tools are necessary. Cost of the rain barrel kit is included with registration.       Two 9-week seasons of softball, with a variety of divisions, will be available this year. Games will be played Sunday - Friday nights. Fees include scorekeepers, one ASA umpire and awards. Teams must supply their own softballs. All teams must pay a $15 ASA fee per year.
