The Gladstone Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce an opening for an experienced professional to serve as the departments Assistant Aquatics Supervisor. This position assists the Aquatics Supervisor with the oversight of the aquatics programming for the City's community center containing a 1,500-seat competitive pool as well as a separate leisure pool. In addition, this position will assist in overseeing the departments outdoor pool. Position Description: Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, the Assistant Aquatic Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the operation and supervision of the Gladstone Parks and Recreation Department's aquatic programs, including; rentals, instruction, swim meets, and special events. Candidate must be willing to work a very flexible schedule, including; early mornings, nights, days and weekends to meet the needs of the City's aquatic program. Excellent benefits. Minimum Requirements: General duties include assisting in the recruiting, training, certifying, and supervising of aquatic staff, coordinating daily safety checks and pool inspections, as well as lifeguarding and teaching classes as necessary. The successful candidate: Should have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in recreation or related field and/or two years of directly related work experience. Have one-year supervisory experience in an aquatics environment. Able to manage and mentor employees effectively. Have one-year experience in a competitive swim environment. Possesses or ability to obtain CPO/AFO Certification. Has current Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, WSI, and CPR/First Aid Instructor certifications or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
