Position Details: The City of Gladstone is seeking a full-time Parks and Facilities Superintendent. This leadership position in the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is highly visible and interfaces with all city employees, citizens of Gladstone, and community visitors. The candidate must be able to foster a positive work environment, encourage high level performance, ensure safety of employees, coordinate maintenance efforts with facility needs and programs and provide exceptional customer service. This position is part of the department's management team and receives general guidance from the Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Excellent benefit package. Minimum Requirements: Primary duties include supervising (7) full time employees, up to (5) seasonal employees, and multiple contractors such as grounds keepers, plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, etc. Position responsibilities include budgeting/purchasing for the division, project management, contract oversight, safety and risk management, and emergency operations including snow removal of city properties. The ideal candidate will have five (5) years of progressive experience in facility and parks maintenance oversight including supervision of full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Horticulture, Turf Management, Facilities Management or a closely related field of study and/or combination of training and experience. Five (5) years experience in Parks and Facility Maintenance or closely related field and three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred. Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment and National Playground Safety Inspector Certification within 6-months required.
