House Explosion Press Release
The City of Gladstone has begun cleanup after a May 31st explosion destroyed a home in the 100 block of NE 74th Terrace, killing one man and two dogs. The cause is still under investigation, though a natural gas leak has been ruled out. Crews are now demolishing the site and inspecting nearby homes, while residents are urged to avoid the area during the ongoing work.

Gladstone City Council Appointment
On May 12, 2025, Cameron Nave was appointed to the Gladstone City Council to fill a vacant seat and will serve until the April 2026 election. A commercial banker and active community leader, he brings extensive experience in city planning, civic engagement, and a strong commitment to youth involvement and community development.

Missouri Route 1 Corridor Updates
The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning a full-depth reconstruction of N Prospect Avenue from NE 72nd Street to NE 64th Street as part of their Missouri Route 1 Corridor Upgrades. Reconstruction includes pavement rebuilding, a new storm sewer, culvert restorations, and an extension of Happy Rock Trail. The project also involves resurfacing the roadway from Route 152 to NE 72nd Street.

IRIS: On-Demand Transit Service in Gladstone
The City of Gladstone has entered into a trial program with IRIS, an app-based, on-demand transit service provided by Kansas City, MO., in partnership with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, zTrip and RideCo. As of September 1st, bus service in Gladstone has been discontinued.
