Gladstone Police Department
The Patrol Division is the main source of all law enforcement activity. The Division is headed by a Captain, and manned by P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officers. The Patrol Division is responsible for Uniform Patrol, Animal Control, and SRO Programs. The Division provides the personnel who make law enforcement, traffic enforcement, and initial criminal investigations possible. Certified instructors train all recruit Police Officers through the Field Training Officer Program. The Police Department is responsible for analyzing trends to prepare for the Department's future needs in the areas of personnel, training, equipment and development to better serve and protect the citizens of Gladstone.
The Support Services Division is headed by a Captain and is responsible for all Criminal and Traffic Accident Investigations and filing charges with the appropriate Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officers are assigned to the Criminal and Traffic Investigation functions of the Division. The Support Services Division is also the Custodian of Property and Evidence for the Department, as well as providing School Crossing guards.
In our efforts to remain cutting edge in how we police and operate the Gladstone Police Department, a commitment was made to earn agency accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The process to earn accreditation involved standardization of policies, ensuring best practices, and on ongoing review of how the agency operates. The Gladstone Police Department is committed to transparency of operations and to being a model police department in the nation.
