Gladstone Police

City of Gladstone
Dare/SRO

The DARE/SRO program is tasked with the responsibility of delivering the DARE curriculum (link to www.dare.org/curriculum) in the North Kansas City School District elementary schools that are located in Gladstone.  Antioch Middle School is assigned a permanent SRO that remains at the school during school hours each day.  That officer is not only responsible for the safety and security of the staff and students at their school, but also is available as a resource to the school, functioning as a law-related counselor and law-related educator.

The DARE Curriculum consists of lessons taught by a DARE Certified officer and is delivered at the 5th grade level.   Each lesson deals with a different topic ranging from the dangers of certain drugs, dealing with peer pressure and bullying, making responsible decisions, choosing appropriate friendships, legal and social consequences, and other pertinent topics.  The DARE officer is responsible for delivering the curriculum to each of the elementary schools throughout the school year.

For more information on the DARE and SRO programs, contact the Gladstone Police Department at 816-436-3550.
