Community Development
Residential Development:
The Planning and Zoning | Building and Construction Divisions of the Community Development Department handle Residential Development projects; such as Subdivision and Apartment Communities. City staff recommends that the design team and owner/developer meet with staff prior to project design kickoff and when plans are approximately sixty (60) to eighty (80) percent complete. The Building and Construction Division handles new home construction, additions, remodeling, detached accessory structures, decks and porches, swimming pools, reroofing, solar and other residential construction projects.
New Home Construction:
1. Application and Plans:
Review phase:
Plans will be reviewed by City staff and comments, if any, will be forwarded to the contractor and applicant.
> Submit a completed building permit application.
> Submit the plan review fee.
- Residential plan review fee is $50.00. (flat fee)
> Siteplan; signed and sealed by engineer of discipline.
> Submit full set if plans digitally; either email or flash/thumb drive.
> Review process typically takes three (3) to five (5) days.
2. Permitting:
Once plans have been reviewed and approved the following will be required to issue the permit(s).
> Full set of plans on a flash/thumb drive.
> Two (2) full size sets of plans.
- One (1) full size set of plans will be stamped and returned to the applicant/contractor.
> Permit fee.
> Current Business License.
